  Safe Areas in Rochester, Minnesota   For the most part Rochester is one of the safest little big cities in Minnesota (its the third largest city in Minnesota after Minneapolis and St.Paul) There are really no "rough" parts or areas of town that you would want to avoid. Downtown Rochester overall is very safe any time of the day. Downtown is patrolled not only by the Rochester Police Department but also the Mayo Clinic security (who are very efficient on stamping out any disturbance on Mayo Clinic property) and hotel security. Outside of downtown you can travel anywhere by cab or car and you're pretty safe. Overall Rochester, Minnesota is safe.
