Glynner’s Pub is a nice, high-quality American bar. They offer a good selection of food and a great atmosphere for any occasion. It’s no longer considered just a neighborhood gem, but it has transitioned into one of Rochester, Minnesota's top-ranked restaurants. It’s a great place to go when you want good food and a nice atmosphere. Enjoy tasty food in a relaxed environment that’s perfect for everyone from families to hardcore sports fans. It’s also one of the few places with a late-night kitchen that serves food past 10 p.m. in Rochester.
Atmosphere
The atmosphere depends on the time you go. During busy times, of course, it can be difficult to hold a conversation as it can get quite noisy when it’s full. It has a very industrial feel to it, with open ceilings and patio umbrellas hanging from the ceiling. The hard surfaces of the building and floors can make it a bit echo-y. But generally speaking, it is a comfortable atmosphere for an enjoyable dinner and drink after work or while watching the game. They also have outside dining when it’s nice enough to enjoy it, so you can eat outdoors if you want the delicious food without the bar atmosphere.
The Food
The hand-dipped chicken strips were delightful and light, and the cheese curds do not disappoint. If you’re looking for something a little less light, you can eat the pounder burger and get a free drink. It’s two 1⁄2 pound burgers topped with bacon and cheese. If you’re not quite that hungry, they've got a good selection of classic bar food like wings, quesadillas, burgers, wraps, and other sandwiches and entrees. Feeling adventurous? Try out their peanut butter bacon burger for a combination of flavors that you didn’t think belonged together, but totally work.
Their fried foods are done to perfection. Not an over-fried French fry or under-toasted bun in the building. The chicken tenders are deservingly touted as the best in Rochester, as are the fries and burgers. The fries are crunchy, crispy, and filled with flavor. The onion rings are equally as delectable; big, crispy, and tasty all at the same time.
They have daily specials, which include famous appetizers such as potato skins, mozzarella sticks, batter fried mushrooms, and batter fried pickle chips. For entrees, they offer chicken tacos, guacamole burgers, chicken pitas, and more. On top of all of that, they’ve got homemade soup and chili. The white chicken chili comes highly recommended.
Drinks
Their beer selection is cold and refreshing, and they’ve got great happy hour specials between 3 p.m and 5 p.m. They also serve wine, but if you’re in the mood for a cocktail, the lemon martini is superb.
The service is quick and reliable, so if you’re in a time crunch, this is a great option. Even when dining in large groups, they somehow manage to get everyone’s order out together and they’re attentive to refilling drinks.
